Dr. Melinda "Sunni" McBride, Doctor of Audiology, was just voted the Best Audiologist of the South Bay for the fourth straight year. Dr. McBride and her team of specialists have created a dynamic, award winning audiology/hearing aid practice, located in Torrance, that utilizes the newest in high tech equipment and stresses personalized customer service. She was given the Rising Star Award for fastest growing new practice in 2008 by GN Resound, one of the 5 largest hearing aid manufacturers in the world. She revitalized of one of the South Bay's oldest hearing aid practices, South Bay Hearing & Balance Center. Over three thousand customers have come to Dr. McBride for her expertise in assessing and treating hearing loss and dizziness.

South Bay Hearing and Balance Center was a recent sponsor of the Successful Aging Expo and the Women's Expo in Torrance. She has appeared as a guest lecturer on CNN and local cable television, taught classes in the Audiology program at California State Los Angeles University and given presentations about hearing to local and professional organizations. Because of her continued success building one of the premiere hearing aid practices in Southern California, she was invited to be the first provider of the Lyric, totally invisible, extended wear hearing aid. Rebecca Hu
Rebecca Hu, Au.D.

Dr. Rebecca Hu received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from UCLA and her Doctoral degree in Audiology from Northwestern University. Dr. Hu is a certified member of American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. She completed her clinical training at the University of Chicago Medical Center. After completing her training, Dr. Hu spent another year at the University of Chicago Medical Center as a clinical audiologist prior to moving back to California. As a Taiwanese American, Rebecca is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese. She enjoys helping her patients to improve their quality of life by restoring hearing and alleviating them from vertigo.

Dana Ryan
Dana Ryan, HAD
Hearing Aid Dispenser

Dana Ryan is a hearing aid dispenser, who earned her B.A. from the University of California, Irvine. For 20 years she was an administrator and recruiter for large law firms with extensive leadership, technology and managerial training. In 2007 she became the Director of Operations for a large audiology practice and began her education and training to become licensed. The career change was perfect for her because she embraces the technological aspects of hearing aid dispensing and her compassionate nature provides her patients with care and good humor. In 2012 she was one of five providers in the nation who received the Million Dollar Provider award. She loves to ski, read and travel.

Rachel Burnett
Rachel Burnett, Au.D.

Dr. Rachel Burnett is one of the newest Audiologists at South Bay Hearing and Balance Center. She recently graduated with her Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Louisville where she completed research that was published in an audiology journal: Audiology Practices. Rachel received extensive training in hearing aids and balance assessments during her externship in Las Vegas, NV. She enjoys being an Audiologist because of the opportunity to improve a patient’s quality of life, both with hearing and balance. Originally from Indiana, Rachel is excited to be living near the beach and establishing herself in the South Bay community!

William Miller
William Miller, Au.D.
Doctor Of Audiology

Dr. William Miller received his bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Western Illinois University and has completed his Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is an active member of the American Academy of Audiology. William completed his audiology externship at an otology practice in Newport Beach, California, where he evaluated hearing disorders and provided rehabilitative services including dispensing hearing aids and assistive listening devices, mapping cochlear implants, and implementing aural rehabilitation programs. William’s doctoral research project was titled “The Esteem Totally Implantable Hearing Device vs. Open Fit Hearing Aids,” and he participated extensively in tinnitus research at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. William’s passion for audiology stems from his own hearing loss and the resulting journey he made through accepting the loss, navigating through the process of finding the appropriate amplification options, and developing a deep level of comfort and satisfaction using such devices.

Ryan Bullock, Au.D., Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Ryan Bullock received his Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) from Missouri State University in 2012. He recently completed his 4th year residency at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System working at the Nashville VA, Alvin C. York VA, and Vanderbilt University. After that, he moved to Vancouver, Washington, where he completed the Audigy University Business and Leadership program. During his education, Ryan served for two years as the state coordinator for the Healthy Hearing Program of the Missouri Special Olympics organization. He has also worked with Missouri State University on streamlining the newborn hearing screening programs for hospitals in the state of Missouri.

Dr. Bullock is the past national president of the Student Academy of Audiology and has served on the American Academy of Audiology Board of Directors. In 2011, he founded Swim To Hear, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising hearing loss awareness and educating the public on the help that is available through Audiology.
