Oticon Hearing Aids

Oticon’s electric Acousticon devices were offered to the public in 1904, making them one of the world’s oldest hearing aid manufacturers. After partnering with Charles Lehman, the American-Danish Oticon Corporation grew to become a leading provider of hearing aids after World War II and a worldwide contender by 1965.

The company’s first ultra-discreet in-the-ear (ITE) hearing device was developed in 1977 and was followed by their first digital device in 1996. The first devices with improved sound sensitivity, streaming, and connectivity features were produced by Oticon in 2007.

Supporting how the brain processes sound by providing it with the elements necessary to create meaning from sound rather just amplifying sound is the substance behind Oticon’s Brain Hearing philosophy.

Upon the Brain Hearing foundation was the development of Opn technology (2016), designed to optimize the ability of device wearers to distinguish between multiple speakers within a noisy environment, while also being the first hearing device to provide internet connectivity (ConnectClip) using the IFTTT (If This Then That) Network.

Digital technology has been a part of Oticon hearing aids for more than twenty-five years, allowing them to manufacture devices with higher quality of sound and enhanced instrument performance. Micro-digital technology continues to enhance performance and quality while also making it possible for devices to become smaller and smaller.

Thanks to streaming capabilities, Oticon was able to integrate Tinnitus SoundSupport, which can transmit white noise and other tinnitus masking sounds for auditory relief through their hearing aids. Streaming and connectivity along with the Genie app also improves fitting, counseling, and ongoing support from a hearing care provider for hearing aid wearers without the necessity of an in-office appointment.
